The Faith of St. Joseph

Joseph 19

Let us reflect on the nobility of St. Joseph. Think of the role of faith that he lived. He obeyed the will of God in regard to becoming the spouse of  Mary and the foster father of Our Lord Jesus Christ.  We see in him a holiness of an extraordinary degree, to have such faith in the hours of uncertainties of daily life. We remember that he had no revelation to know of the future and outcome of things. He is a silent witness of a mystery whose explanation God alone knows. What humility of heart that knew how to wait for God’s revelation. And when it was revealed to him that the one to be born would be the Son of God, he had the ineffable grace to join with Mary in welcoming the Son as their Messiah and Lord. What an example of faith!

  1. This reflection resonated deeply with me today. I think it was these words: “What humility of heart that knew how to wait for God’s revelation.” This is so hard to do — to wait for God’s time to act or speak, not one’s own.

St Joseph, help me to imitate you in patient, confident waiting. Oremus.
